The Moselle is my favorite river in our region. It is very green, calm and beautiful, full of vineyards and small fairy-tale towns. We loved to explore this river by bikes (check our cycling trip on the Moselle part 1 and part 2) but another great option to enjoy the surroundings is a kayak tour on the Moselle.
The canoe tour is very easy to organize. We booked kayaks from Mosel Kanutours. A company offers many different tours from the short 1-day trips to several days kayak tours or even a combination of kayak + bicycle tours. It is better to book one or two weeks in advance if you want to have a tour on a weekend because it could be overbooked.
Kayak tour on the Moselle from Ediger-Eller to Poltersdorf
We chose a 1-day kayak tour from Ediger-Eller to Poltersdorf. It is 12,5 kilometers on the river, which took us around 2,5 hours of paddling.

We paddled through beautiful towns, local wineries, and vineyards. The water was clean and warm; we saw many birds and water plants along the way. It was so relaxing and wonderful! Perfect last weekend of summer.

Tasting local wine and kayaking at the same time 🙂
The river is quite calm, however, some ships pass by and produce small waves. It is not dangerous and doesn’t require special skills.

Canoe tour is relaxing (but it is a sport as well!)
Our tour ended in Poltersdorf. We left our kayaks there to be picked up later by the kayaking company. We went back to Ediger-Eller by bus. The bus ticket was included in the tour.

After the trip, we did wine tasting in Ediger. Basically, there are wine tasting options everywhere on the Moselle. You can also order appetizers and other dishes to try local cuisine along with your wine. After wine tasting, we also took several bottles home – a nice souvenir from this wonderful weekend trip.
